The Dresden Dolls singer releases her debut solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer?, in September. The song, ‘Astronaut’ features ex-Rasputina cellist Zoë Keating.

Shakira has followed in the footsteps of Madonna and Jay-Z to become the latest artist to sign a 360° contract with Live Nation worth $70 million (£35 million). The contract allows the company not only to take over from Epic as her record label, but to take control of her touring, merchandising and other rights. It won’t be for a while yet though, as the 31-year old Colombian still owes Epic another English-language album and a greatest hits collection.
