boss hog play intimate london show

221108_bosshogTrost joins them for first London gig in years

It’s been almost 20 years since Boss Hog played their legendary debut gig at New York’s CBGBs – legendary because frontwoman Cristina Martinez apparently performed the whole thing buck naked – and over 7 years since they last played a show. We’ve known for a while about their planned appearance at ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas weekend at the Minehead Butlins resort on December 5th, in their original line-up no less, but we only just discovered that they’ll also be playing at London’s intimate Luminaire venue on December 8th.

Support for the European leg of Boss Hog’s December tour comes from (Annika Line) Trost of German duo Cobra Killer. Her 2006 solo album Trust Me was given a long-overdue UK release earlier this week (read our review here) and the Luminaire show is is her only scheduled UK appearance. Boss Hog will return to the US to play their first hometown gig in 8 years at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on December 17th, hosted by BUST magazine.

The band’s return to the New York stage will be their first show in the city since George W Bush ‘won’ the Presidency in 2000, something Cristina is well aware of. “It’s been two torturous terms of Republican disease and culture death,” she says. “Now that we’re free, it’s the perfect time for us to bring back our own brand of sick in celebration.”
