Charity gig in Islington to raise funds for Teenage Cancer TrustFormer Cocteau Twins vocalist Elizabeth Fraser will join her partner Damon Reece’s new ’supergroup’ of British musicians for a special charity gig in London tonight. The band, which boasts members of Massive Attack, Spiritualized, Suede, Placebo, Strangelove, Goldfrapp and Echo & The Bunnymen, are playing their first gig in the capital at the newly opened Islington venue, The Library, situated opposite the Union Chapel on Upper Street. Billed as “a unique performance with a healthy dose of Countrybilly and a sprinkle of Johnny Cash”, the event starts at 7:30pm and the entry fee is a donation to Teenage Cancer Trust.
Elizabeth’s long-awaited solo album – rumoured to be seven new songs and one cover – was anticipated early last year through Blanco Y Negro Records but no further information about the release has since emerged. Her official website remains under construction.
