Singer to debut new material in Brooklyn at the weekendIt’s been barely 5 months since stroppy teenage tearaways Be Your Own Pet disbanded but former lead singer Jemina Pearl has wasted no time in preparing for reclaiming the spotlight for herself. With her unexpected collaboration with legendary Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore commissioned by the producers of ‘Gossip Girl’ proving that there is life after Pet bereavement, she’s gathered together some friends to form a backing band for her new solo project.
These friends include fellow ex-Pet drummer John Eatherly (aka Johnny Rash, which sounds like an unfortunate latex allergy), Turbo Max of Turbo Fruits on bass, and Tall Firs drummer Ryan Sawyer. That’s two drummers right there. This could be LOUD. They probably play other instruments too though, right? A quick trawl of Myspace reveals that Jemina and Johnny have set up their own page (here) and will be playing their first show this Saturday, opening for reformed ’80s punk band The Fluid. No songs yet though.
