200209_acampNew digital EP out in the US next week

A Camp recently covered David Bowie’s ‘Boys Keep Swinging’ and Pink Floyd’s ‘Us & Them’ for the B-sides of recent UK single ‘Love Has Left The Room’, and American fans will soon be able to get their hands on those with the release of the imaginatively titled Covers EP later this month. They’ll also get the exclusive bonus cover of Grace Jones’s ‘I’ve Done It Again’ – a song the band describe as “[managing] to simultaneously seem nearly asleep and yet totally insane (in the best way), full of this world-weary sadness, plus a rage deep in there somewhere…not unlike Grace herself!”

The band have been performing the song – originally released on 1981’s Nightclubbing – as part of their live set and it’s developed into a real crowd pleaser. “We were drawn initially to the bizarre very smart lyrics and also that the Swedish soprano Jenny Lind is name-checked, that HAS to be the only instance of that in pop music. The time-travel/’Zelig’ tone to the words made a lot of sense as well as that’s kind of our vibe with Colonia. And we dug the sweet cocaine, studio-in-Barbados groove.”

The EP gets an exclusive release on iTunes next week, with a wider digital issue following on June 16th.
