florence + the machine announce new tour

Tickets for Florence + The Machine’s newly announced UK tour in September go on sale today from 9am through all the usual websites. The nine-date trek kicks off in Bristol on September 17th and comes to a no doubt riotous close on the 28th in London (full dates below). As you’re probably already aware, the BBC Sound of 2009 top five finalists, fronted by charged-up eccentric Florence Welch, release their debut album Lungs on July 6th, with production from Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford (Peaches, Arctic Monkeys), Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Maxïmo Park) and Steve Mackay (MIA, Pulp). Some retailers are offering a bonus disc version with three previously unreleased tracks (’Bird Song’, ‘Falling’ and ‘Hardest Of Hearts’), two demos (’Dog Days Are Over’, ‘I’m Not Calling You A Liar’) and an alternative version of album track ‘Girl With One Eye’.

Speaking to NME.com yesterday, Florence said of Lungs: “This album feels like a culmination of 22 years of my life. A scrapbook of events, things I’ve seen, people I have met, dreams and nightmares, and now seems like the right time to release it into the world. If it was up to me I would never finish it, but I have to let this one go now so I can start another scrapbook.” We’ll have our verdict on the album for you tomorrow.
