Vivian Girls
‘When I’m Gone’

It’s impossible not to love the Vivian Girls. From their super cute band names – Cassie Ramone, Kickball Katy, Ali Koehler – to their inimitable brand of surfshoegazepunk, this Brooklyn trio have taken our hearts and tattooed them across their pearly white forearms. Their self-titled debut has became an instant classic among even the most discerning indie fans. A packed out show at London pub The Lexington last month confirmed their growing UK fanbase, who were variously treated to riotous instrument swaps, crashing improv numbers and a shambolic drum set-smashing mosh, and whipped up in an adoring frenzy.

‘When I’m Gone’ is taken from second album Everything Goes Wrong, due for release on September 8th [more info here]. A touch more upbeat then previous material, the track veers more towards garage rock then their usual underwater shoegaze. With crashing cymbals, jangling chords and the type of ethereal, nymph-like harmonies that could bewitch the most hardened of surf punx, ‘When I’m Gone’ is a perfect wave from their eagerly anticipated new material.
