Martha Wainwright is bringing her well received Edith Piaf performance to the Barbican in London on November 11 following an intimate two-night run at New York’s Dixon Palace Theater back in June, and tickets are selling out fast.

The occasion? To mark the release of the Hal Willner-produced live recordings of those shows on November 9 through V2/Co-Op Records. Dubbed Sans Fusils, Ni Souliers, Á Paris: Martha Wainwright’s Piaf Record, the album builds upon a lifetime of admiration for the tragic French chanteuse’s vast catalogue of passionately sung recordings, picking out several of her lesser known songs to breathe some new life into.

So alongside the familiar likes of ‘Adieu Mon Cœur’ and ‘Le Chant D’Amour’, Martha gives us little treasures like ‘Les Blouses Blanches’ and ‘Non, La Vie N’est Pas Triste’, all delivered with guts and emotion with some expert musical backing. A bonus DVD features four songs filmed at the New York shows by Faithless member Jamie Catto.
