tina dico to release soundtrack album

Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dico (Dickow) is frighteningly prolific these days. It doesn’t seem that long ago that she released the triple-EP ‘album’ A Beginning, A Detour, An Open Ending, but she’s already back with a brand new full-length. Recorded in New York’s legendary Electric Lady Studio in March 2009 during a five-day road break while touring the States, The Road To Gävle was conceived as the soundtrack to a Danish feature film ‘Oldboys’. But while the film versions are often purely instrumental, Tina finished many of the songs off with lyrics at a later date, and it’s these versions you’ll hear on the album. Describing the project as “a huge mouthful and admittedly a lot more challenging than I had expected,” Tina rose to the challenge and found herself in “some musical corners I hadn’t visited before”.

On a similarly exploratory note, Tina has hopped aboard the new-music-paradigm bandwagon with a new initiative for fans to pledge money in return for music and exclusive items. But unlike some others, she is donating a healthy 15% of all the profits to Amnesty International. Starting tomorrow, fans will be able to see the wide range of packages available from Tina and her crew; these include access to exclusive video blogs, unreleased songs and live recordings, plus the chance to win backstage passes, old setlists and “other fun stuff”, as well as receiving a copy of The Road To Gävle a fortnight ahead of its official November 30 release.

Over the next few months, Tina will extend the opportunities to include signed CDs, personal Christmas cards and handwritten lyrics, plus other exclusive offers yet to be revealed. If you’re interested, check Tina’s official website from 5pm tomorrow for more information. Tina headlines a sold out show at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on Thursday.
