‘Lonely This Christmas’ [Mud cover]
Lucky Soul’s lovely little version of Mud’s famously impassioned ‘Lonely This Christmas’ is as jangly as you like, a duvet of tambourine, sleigh bells and glocks stuffed with tinsel and wrapped around a snowman. It’s been around for a couple of years, first released as the B-side to the fabulous ‘Lips Are Unhappy’, but it’s now available for free as part of Ruffa Lane Records’ festive EP, Ruffa Around The Christmas Tree. It’s well worth a click, as is original track ‘Midnight Train To Århus’, a track by Swedish band Napoleon (with its 7–10 members) featuring Lucky Soul singer Ali Howard. We’ve also thrown in KT Tunstall’s decidedly less garnished version of ‘Lonely This Christmas’, just for the hell of it. Lucky Soul’s new album, White Russian Doll, is released on January 11.
