Sally Seltman
‘Harmony To My Heartbeat’

You may know this Melbourne-based singer-songwriter by her former stage name New Buffalo, under which she released two albums: 2005’s The Last Beautiful Day, which featured Beth Orton and Dirty Three’s Jim White on drums, and 2007’s Somewhere, Anywhere, which featured her husband Darren Seltmann of The Avalanches and Architecture In Helsinki’s Kellie Sutherland. And that’s not all you might know her from; Sally is accredited as co-writer on Feist’s anthemic number ‘1234’, and was recently covered by Bon Iver, who recently reworked her song ‘Emotional Champ’ during a live performance.

Free to download until December 15, ’Harmony To My Heartbeat’ has a Phil Spector-like production vibe, with sweet, airy vocals gracing a handclap beat and classic, grown-up pop arrangements that layer pianos and keyboards with expert care. Undeniably romantic, it’s the first taste of her upcoming album Heart That’s Pounding, which will be released through Arts & Crafts in April. Co-produced with Francois Tétaz (Architecture In Helsinki, Gotye), the album features a duet with Jens Lekman on ‘Inside (The Corrections)’.
