Fronted by the ebullient Emily Beanblossom, Christmas are basically the antithesis of all things commercial and plastic – this band likes to get drunk, thrash around and generally just have a whale (and a wail) of a time by bratting it up the max. Enjoy the emphatic thrills of freebie ‘Santa Cruz’.

Laetitia Sadier releases her first official solo album after a bazillion music-making years on September 20. If ‘One Million Year Trip’ is anything to go by, the ground has been laid for a sturdy rather than revolutionary album, but it leaves a lasting impression.
